What does Error code GC-… mean?

For: EveryoneTakes 1 min.Last updated

Short answer

If something goes wrong, GoalCube shows, for example, "An error occurred. Error code GC-7K3Q9MXA." Write the code and your customer number to contact@goalcube.eu, and say briefly what you did. The code contains no information about you. It points only to one line in our error log, which we can usually find for 90 days. An error code is GC- and 8 characters. The customer number is GC- and 6 characters and is under Settings > Account and data.

What you do

  1. Try again. If it says "Temporary error. Try again shortly.", wait a moment and try again.
  2. Write down the error code, for example GC-7K3Q9MXA.
  3. Find your customer number under Settings > Account and data. Only administrators can see it.
  4. Write to contact@goalcube.eu with the error code, the customer number and a short note on what you did just before.

That is enough for us to find the error. Do not send screenshots showing names or data from your datasets.

Error code, customer number and invoice number

All three start with GC-, but they are different:

Number Looks like What it is Where is it?
Error code GC- and 8 characters, for example GC-7K3Q9MXA One particular error. Every error gets a new code. In the error message.
Customer number GC- and 6 characters, for example GC-4H8K2P Your company. It never changes. Settings > Account and data (administrators only).
Invoice number GC- and 6 digits, for example GC-000123 An invoice or credit note. Settings > Plan > Invoices.

We use the customer number only to find your case when you write to us. It does not give access to anything.

What does GoalCube store about the error?

The error log stores only the time, the error code, a fixed code for the type of error, the first part of the address, the status and the company's random ID. Never content, names, emails or IP addresses. The error log is deleted after 90 days, and copies in backups can remain for up to 30 days more. See the privacy policy.

If the error code is older than 90 days, we can no longer find it. Then tell us what you did and when.

Error messages without a code

Most messages tell you what to do, for example that a file is too large. You find them in All error messages.
