AI in associations and clubs: Can we use AI on members and volunteers?
Short answer
Yes. Associations may use AI on member and volunteer data for purposes that fit the membership, but they are controllers and must follow GDPR just like businesses. Use a business subscription with a data processing agreement, not free apps. Membership of a trade union, a political party or a religious community is sensitive data. Expelling a member is a decision about a person, which the board must make. And volunteers who use AI on behalf of the association need AI literacy.
