What should AI training for employees cover?

Policy, training and inventoryLast updated 2 min read

Short answer

Good AI training for ordinary employees is short and concrete: what AI is and isn't, that it can be wrong and make things up, which data must never be shared, that people decide matters about people, what is prohibited and high-risk, and what to do when something goes wrong. The law does not require a certificate, but you must be able to show who has had which introduction. Staff who work with high-risk AI need more.

The five topics everyone needs to know

Topic What your staff need to know
What AI is It predicts text – it doesn't know whether something is true
Personal data and confidential data What must never be shared, and how GoalCube protects it
People decide AI may prepare; people decide matters about people
Prohibited and high-risk For example emotion recognition and recruitment
When something goes wrong Who to tell, and what to do

The proof

GoalCube gives each employee a course certificate with the date and course version, and collects them in the report for regulators and auditors. The course doesn't require the employee to be a GoalCube user.

What to do

  1. Start with the common ground.Five short lessons that everyone takes.
  2. Adapt it to your use.Your own examples, tools and rules from your policy.
  3. Test understanding.A few questions after each lesson.
  4. Keep the proof.Name, date and course version.
  5. Give more to those who decide. For example HR and managers who oversee high-risk AI.

What the law says

Article 4 AI Act – AI literacy
Measures that take into account knowledge, experience, education and the context in which the AI is used.
Article 26(2) AI Act
Those who oversee high-risk AI must have the necessary competence, training and authority.

Questions and answers

Does the course need formal accreditation?

No. There is no such requirement. You must be able to show that you have done something appropriate.
