Claude and GDPR: What should you check before using Claude on personal data?
Short answer
A business can use Claude on the Team or Enterprise plan. Anthropic doesn't use your data for training unless you opt in, and the data processing agreement is automatically part of the commercial terms. But data is stored in the US, and there is no EU storage option. The transfer therefore needs a legal basis – and the safest route is for Claude to see only pseudonyms. GoalCube works directly in Claude as a connector.
Claude and GoalCube
GoalCube is built to work inside the AI you already use. In Claude, an owner adds GoalCube as a connector for the whole organisation. When an employee asks Claude to work on company data, Claude fetches the data from GoalCube – but only with pseudonyms such as [PERSON_1]. The answer is saved in GoalCube, where the real names are put back in.

If you use Claude via the API
If you build on Anthropic's API yourselves, the same principles apply: a data processing agreement, no training by default and data in the US. Consider whether you yourselves become the provider of an AI system under the AI Act.

Questions and answers
Can data stay in the EU with Claude?
Not with Anthropic directly – there is no EU storage option. With GoalCube, the real names never leave the EU; Claude only gets codes.
Does Anthropic train on our data?
Not on the commercial plans, unless you give permission.
What is the red warning in Claude?
Claude flags messages from connector windows as a possible risk. It is a security feature; read more in the help centre.
